History
Brief History of Character:
Cormac was born to purebood English wizard Marc McLaggen and French witch Cher. He's their only child and the heir to the McLaggen name, so they doted upon their son from the moment he was born. His mother threw him in etiquette, piano, and dancing lessons from the moment he could walk and talk while his father tried to nurture the business and masculine side of his only son by teaching him to fly before he entered Hogwarts, taking him to games, and taking him to the occasion bar. His parents taught him to follow Grindelwald blindly as a purebood and that muggles were below them. But not below them enough to harm them. They simply weren't worth the effort of associating with. His father hated the Class of the Chrysanthemum, but actually going against them was not something he was interested in.
Cormac went to Hogwarts in 1990 as expected, excelling in flying, charms, and transfiguration, but failing to keep top marks in Dark Arts and herbology. He never exactly failed however, getting nothing below an E in his OWLs. He played on the Gryffindor House team as Seeker for his last three years of school, having never been able to make the team before then. When he was fourteen, and his father deemed him old enough, his father began to take him to brothels around London where he was "taught" how to "please" a women. To the McLaggens "no" was not a word you heard from a woman, yet if they said it, it was supposed to mean that they were not interested in men and therefore simply not worth the McLaggens' interest or time.
Once he graduated, he immediately tried out for the Falmouth Falcons, and he failed to make the team and blamed it childishly on everyone else. Upon receiving the news that he did not make the team, he got a job in the Department of Magical Games and Sports at the Ministry of Magic. Slowly he is working his way up the cooperate ladder by carefully playing people to his benefit and knowing just how to act for them to think whatever he wanted and got was actually for their personal best interest. The McLaggens never shunned their son and are helping him stay on top by putting him up in a lavish three bedroom flat in London not far from Diagon Alley. Cormac spends his days between his job and working on becoming the next Head of the Department and spending his nights with all the women he could get, drinking in excess, and even going to the brothels from time to time when he doesn't have time for the "wining and dining".
On his birthday in 2001, he spoke to his best friend Katie Bell about their future. Both were in a position that they saw no real option to get married. Katie had her rights taken away while Cormac just lived in the shadow of his parents' traditions. After Katie took a vacation to France, she came back with her mind set on agreeing to the marriage. They both agreed for it to be a sham marriage built on friendship and arrangement rather than love and accept that. However, they agreed to trick his parents into believing that it was real to both safe face for Cormac and to keep Katie from being treated poorly. Everyone else, within reason, they were going to tell the truth about their marriage and arrangement to rather than lie.
